What is the difference between the SENT ITEMS, and the OUTBOX, in Outlook Express?

I tried to send an email but I got a quick message that said it couldn't be sent , before i could read the whole message it was gone from the screen. I think the message had something to do with mcafee virus protection.


I can see the message I tried to send in my Sent Items, but can not see it in my Outbox. So has the message been sent or not?|||e-mails waiting to be sent out will be placed in the OUTBOX, and after its sent out, it would be in the SENT ITEMS folder. So if it appears in your SENT ITEMS, then it should have been sent. If the mail is in your OUTBOX, and not in the SENT ITEMS folder, then it is waiting to be sent out. to Outbox. Till the message is sent, it remains in Outbox. Once the message is sent, the same will not be displayed in Outbox and it will be displayed in "Sent Items" folder. Oncethe message is displayed in "Sent Item" Folder, you can make sure that the message has gone.|||The "Outbox" in Outlook and Outlook Express is a folder containing E-mail that is waiting to be sent. The "Sent Items" folder contains copies of e-mail that has been sent. To send e-mail that is still in the outbox, click on the radio button at the top of the window labeled "Send/Receive.|||If an email is in your outbox, then it hasnt been sent yet for some reason. If its in your sent items, then it has been sent.|||Sent items are items that have been sent to the server and will be delivered to the receipient.





The outbox is the place where out-going mails are placed before sending to the server. When you click on 'send' and your computer is not online (i.e. connected to the internet) the mails will be stored in the outbox. When you established connection to the internet, the mails in the outbox will then be delivered. This could be automatic or manual depending on how you configured outlook. In manual, you need to click on the send/receive button on the menu.





Try sending a message to yourself to see if the message gets delivered. If it gets through you will see your message both in the sent box and the in box.|||Your Outbox has the items that have not yet been sent while the Sent folder has the items that have been sent.|||Sent item means the item have been sent to the recipent already. So in general u can quit of outlook express





Outbox means the mails are in progress to send and not sent yet. So, you can wait for mail to be sent or otherwise you can quit and next time when you launch outlook it will send the mail automatically which are in outbox|||it is a general term used in eMails:





when you send e-mail it goes 1st to outbox then forwarded to sent items when mail was successfully send. if not it will go to draft.
