Whats the most commonly accepted outbox custom?

Guys, I don't have an outbox in my apt. Just wondering if anyone has any tip on how to put my mails to be picked up by the postman from outbox.|||In the US there are large blue post boxes on many street corners and at post offices. These boxes are where you put your properly postaged letters.
